2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 Review
Drivers in the Manhattan area of Kansas from Wamego to Junction City already understand that the Silverado has good reason to be a perennial bestseller for Chevy and GM in general. Not only do we love pickups in the United States, but Chevy offers the Silverado in a dizzying array of configurations, with multiple cab sizes, bed lengths, engine choices, and Silverado trim levels.
From bare-bones to luxurious, there’s not a model of Silverado that won’t suit your needs. With the new model year upon us, there are even more great options available. Check out why the Chevy Silverado is still the bestselling vehicle in the entire General Motors lineup, for its performance, features, and driving experience.
2018 Chevy Silverado
This year’s model brings a number of additions and upgrades that even further boost the appeal of the 2018 Chevy Silverado. First of all, you now get a rearview camera and the full 7-inch touchscreen with complete Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ functionality for the MyLink® infotainment system, right out of the gate. You can also add the new eAssist start-stop engine function across the board this year at the Silverado LT or the LTZ trim levels.
The Most Bang for Your Buck
A lot of drivers will skip the base two trims and head straight for the LT level. This one gives you high-quality luxurious upholstery, a larger, 8-inch touchscreen interface, the full package for the MyLink® system including satellite radio, with tailgate dampers and the availability of tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, rear window defogger, and a number of other package and individual upgrades like eAssist and GPS navigation. Let’s also not forget the available 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.
Configurations
Again, there are a dizzying number of possible configurations for the new Silverado. It comes in three different cab styles—the 2-door regular cab, a 4-door extended or Double cab, and a crew cab. There are three different bed lengths—a 5’8” bed, a 6.5’ bed, and a full-sized 8’ bed. Finally, there are six different trim levels: the WT, LS, Custom, LT, and LTZ trim levels, with the High Country being available at the top of the line.
If there’s anything tricky about the range of options available, it’s understanding that certain trims only come with certain cabs and bed lengths. For example, the regular cab can only be had in the WT, LS, or LT trims, while extended cabs add the Custom and LTZ trims to the mix, while the crew cab can also get the High Country.
In addition, any LT or LTZ model that has four-wheel drive can opt for a Z71 off-road package. This gives you 18-inch wheels, upgraded hardware like shock absorbers, hill-descent control, enhanced air cleaner, protective shields for the underbody, and recovery hooks as well as style tweaking.
